Welcome to the highly specialized and super economic world of「Protopaterpolis」.
At first glance, it appears to be a typical urban environment, but beneath the surface, "magic" beyond human comprehension flourishes. In Protopaterpolis, two civilizations were intentionally divided to prevent conflicts that might arise from the fusion of the "modern society" and the "magical society".
The glamorous modern society is called the "front world", and the magical society that is evolving in its own way behind the scenes is called the "underworld".
「Lucie」 is a witch affiliated with the research organization "Ivory Tower, Laboratory of Witches," which supports the underworld's civilization and even influences the front world.
She is dedicated to researching the Sacred Ruins known as "MQ-59," referred to as "the root of this world," to continue the work of her mother, Helen, who disappeared without achieving her ambition.
One day, while reviewing her mother's research materials left at "Ivory Tower, Laboratory of Witches.", Lucie finds a report in the research materials that was magically disguised by her mother so that others could not find it.
While examining her mother's research materials at the Ivory Tower, Lucie discovers a report that had been magically disguised by her mother to prevent others from finding it. When Lucie infused her own magical power into the report, it responded and revealed a rewritten conclusion. A Sacred Relic, said to be the "origin of all life," appeared in the Sacred Ruins. This discovery leads her to understand that her mother vanished due to a dispute over this Sacred Relic.
The materials also contained fragmented details of the Sacred Relic research and preserved portions of the Sacred Relics.
Seeing the remnants of her mother's research, Lucie begins to wonder if her mother is still alive and continuing her work somewhere.
Part 1 – Chapter 1
To find her mother's location, Lucie embarks on her own research based on the materials left by Helen. However, she struggles to make progress due to a lack of materials.
For some reason, there are no other materials concerning the Sacred Ruins at the "Ivory Tower, Laboratory of Witches" beyond those left by her mother.
It is a strange situation for witches, for whom individual intellectual exploration is more important than anything else.
Lucie decided to ask various witches in the "Ivory Tower, Laboratory of Witches" about the Sacred Ruins and her mother, but none show much interest, as they are preoccupied with their own research.
Frustrated by their indifference, Lucie decided to seek help at the outside.
It is said that there are "specialists" in this world who solve problems for a price. Despite knowing nothing about the outside world, Lucie is determined to find assistance.
Eventually, she discovers a "Specialist" named「Lyka」,
who introduces herself as a troublemaker. Initially, Lyka is reluctant to get involved, but her attitude changes when Lucie mentions her mother's name, Helen. Intrigued, Lyka agrees to help and offers to take Lucie to someone who might have further information.
They headed to the “Forest of Aradia,'' which is said to be connected to the "front world."
Part 1 – Chapter 2
The "front world" is strictly controlled by the "AAA.", Agents Against Arcana. However, it is in the "underworld" where witches freely roam. There are, apparently, illegal methods to enter the “front world”.
Guided by Lyka, Lucie arrives at "Aradia Forest," located on the edge of the so-called slums in the “underworld”.
